29 Kilometers

Arrival in Kigali and transferring to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will take our bikes for a test ride and explore Kigali. This is more of a ride to acclimatize, test the bikes, and stretch our legs. On the program we cycle on the World Championship track to the Genocide memorial, we do the Wall of Kigali, visit Camp Kigali and end up with a beer in a local bar.

DAY 5: Lake Muhanzi - Byjumba

1623 meters

72 Kilometers

We cross the lake by boat and start our ride on the other side of Lake Muhazi. The route follows the lake for 30 km... Then you know that the other 35 km will be all uphill. The sting is in the tail. You can take that literally here, but what a beautiful route! Byumba is a small town where we visit the local bar for a drink after the ride.

DAY 6: Byjumba - Musanze

1782 meters

93 Kilometers

Today we head into the mountains and drive to the volcanoes. Many people consider this stage to be the most beautiful stage ever. The landscapes on both sides of the route are breathtaking. It is therefore important to stop in time for a photo opportunity.

DAY 7: Musanze - Gisinyi

We usually do this ride in the opposite direction, which involves a climb of almost 45 km... so that means we're going downhill now! Be sure to brake in time, or you'll end up in Lake Kivu!
